Ramblers (2003) has this laid-back vibe that's kind of hard to put into words. It’s all about these two guys, Tsuboi and Kinoshita, who find themselves at this eerie, deserted train station in the countryside. The pacing is pretty slow, which some might find a bit dull, but it really lets you soak in the atmosphere. You get that feeling of isolation and the weight of their ambitions as amateur filmmakers. The performances are casual, almost like you're watching a slice-of-life documentary. There's a certain charm in how they interact and talk about their dreams. It almost feels like a meditation on creativity and the journey rather than the destination, which is what makes it distinctive, you know?
