Rawhead Rex has this gritty, raw energy that sets it apart from other 80s horror flicks. It’s based on a Clive Barker story, and you can feel that twisted imagination come through, even if it doesn’t always hit the mark. The practical effects are a highlight—Rex himself is a hulking, grotesque presence that looms over everything. There's something about the way the Irish countryside is captured, almost adding to the sense of dread. The pacing can feel uneven at times, but it builds this odd tension. The performances are all solid, especially the lead trying to confront this beast. It’s a curious mix, and while it’s not perfect, it’s definitely memorable in its own way.
