So, 'Read Through' is quite an interesting take on the indie horror genre. It starts off with this familiar premise—Scott, an actor, going in for an audition—but it quickly spirals into something much darker. The atmosphere is thick with tension, almost claustrophobic, which really plays into the horror elements. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the dread to build up as Scott navigates through this surreal audition process. Practical effects are used effectively; there’s a rawness that you don’t often find in bigger productions. The performances feel genuine, too, especially when Scott starts to confront his own fears. There’s a meta aspect that adds layers to the storytelling, which I found pretty compelling.
