Reaper Madness is this short animation that leans heavily into the stark tones of the late '80s and early '90s. Commissioned by CEIDA, it carries a weighty message about drug use and sexual health, wrapped in a kind of surreal, almost grim atmosphere that's hard to shake off. The pacing is brisk, but it gives just enough time to let those unsettling visuals sink in. It's distinctive, sure, because of its bluntness and the way it doesn't shy away from dark themes. The practical effects, though simplistic, create a raw edge that complements the film's heavy subject matter. Not much known about the director, but the artistic choices here certainly leave an impression.
