Reasons to Be Glad is a curious little gem from 1980, created with a homemade rotoscope. It’s this unique mix of animation, drawn on index cards, which gives it a personal touch. The film feels like a love letter to the medium itself, celebrating life's little moments with a whimsical tone. The pacing is relaxed, almost meditative, allowing you to soak in the visuals and sounds, which are heavily influenced by the music of Xavier Cugat. It’s a shame the original 16mm negative was lost—if only it had survived, it would have been fascinating to see how that affected its distribution. Despite the loss, the film stands out for its experimental approach and heartfelt essence.
