Reign Over Me is a heavy slice of life that dives deep into the aftermath of loss, specifically around the shadow of 9/11. Adam Sandler, usually known for comedy, gives a raw performance that really showcases his range—his character's grief feels so palpable. Mike Binder's direction keeps the pacing deliberate, allowing the weight of the story to really settle in. The interactions between Sandler and Don Cheadle, who plays his old college roommate, have this natural ebb and flow. It’s almost like watching a dance of old friends navigating heavy waters. The film isn't all darkness though; there's these moments of levity that pop up, making the moments of despair feel even more intense. It's definitely a film that lingers with you long after the credits roll.
