Rest Stop (2015) is one of those films that really leans into the dread of isolation. Directed by Ben Masson, it's based on a Stephen King story, so you know there's a solid psychological underpinning. The pacing can be quite deliberate, building tension as viewers are trapped in this eerie, desolate rest stop. The practical effects add a nice touch of realism, especially when things get gruesome. The performances are pretty solid; you can feel the characters' desperation and fear throughout. What stands out is how it captures that feeling of being utterly alone and vulnerable—there's something deeply unsettling about the setting itself. It’s certainly not a typical slasher fare, more atmospheric and haunting.
