Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer & the Island of Misfit Toys is a curious blend of animation and family warmth, picking up where the classic Rudolph left off. The pacing is a bit brisk, but the charm of the characters makes up for it. You’ve got Rudolph leading the charge alongside Hermey the elf, who yearns to be a dentist of all things. There's a solid balance of whimsy and the darker undertones of being 'misfit'—the Island itself is a nice exploration of acceptance, though the Toy Taker's plot could have been fleshed out more. The practical effects are a throwback to traditional animation style, giving it that nostalgic feel. The performances are solid, packed with heart, and there's a certain magic in how they all come together toward the end.
