Run Kalyani is really something special, you know? It's Geetha J.'s debut, and she crafts this beautifully nuanced slice of life. The pacing is measured, almost meditative, allowing us to truly sit with Kalyani’s struggles and day-to-day rhythms. It’s set against the backdrop of a rundown agraharam in Trivandrum, which adds to the film’s authenticity. The atmosphere is thick with a sense of longing and duty, and you really feel for the characters. Kalyani, a young cook, navigates her responsibilities towards her ailing aunt and the young man living with them, and that dynamic is quite interesting. The performances feel very genuine, and there’s a poetic realism that keeps you engaged. It’s refreshing in its simplicity and depth.
