Sad Beauty is quite a unique animation, really. Directed by Arjan Brentjes, it brings this heavy sense of loss and mourning to life, as you follow a young woman grappling with the vanishing of animal species in a world choked by pollution. The pacing's deliberate, allowing you to really soak in the atmosphere—it's almost dreamlike, especially as her illness leads to these vivid hallucinations. The visuals have this raw, hand-drawn quality that feels organic, almost a contrast to the harshness of the themes. It makes you ponder our relationship with nature, the weight of grief, and the fragile beauty still left. The performances are quite great too, considering it's animation; they draw you in without being overly flashy. It’s an experience more than just a film.
