Saddam (2006) is a curious exploration of the psychological tension between duty and the unknown. Two Italian guards at Abu Ghraib find themselves enveloped in a sense of dread as they stand watch over a mysterious prisoner. The atmosphere is thick, almost claustrophobic, and the pacing deliberately slow, heightening the unease. You can feel their nerves crack under the weight of secrecy and isolation. The performances, while understated, create a palpable sense of dread and moral ambiguity. It’s not flashy, but there's a rawness to it that sticks with you. The film’s focus on the mundane aspects of military life and the ethical dilemmas therein sets it apart from typical war dramas.
Interesting take on military duty and morality.Atmospheric, with strong character focus. Not your typical war film.
