Salvo is an interesting piece, really. This film dives deep into the psyche of a cold-hearted Sicilian hitman who undergoes a significant transformation after a bloody ambush. It’s gritty and atmospheric, capturing that gritty underbelly of mafia life without the glamorization. The pacing is deliberate, allowing moments of tension to linger, which is quite effective. The performances are raw, particularly from the lead, who manages to convey both menace and vulnerability. What's striking is how the film uses practical effects rather than relying heavily on CGI, giving everything this visceral quality. And that theme of redemption—it's handled subtly, which adds layers to the narrative. Definitely distinct in its approach to the genre.
