Sama Gilanya is quite a quirky piece of 1980s cinema. The story revolves around Euis, a girl who finds herself at the crossroads of societal expectations and her own whims. Her betrothal to the son of a landowner feels like a setup for traditional romance, but the film swiftly pivots to her misadventures with Beno, a motorcycle taxi driver who's as eccentric as she is. The pacing feels relaxed, allowing the characters' oddball charm to breathe, which is really refreshing. The performances are full of life, capturing that carefree spirit of youth. There’s this unique blend of comedy and social commentary that makes you think while chuckling. I mean, it’s really those practical effects in the motorcycle scenes that give it character—something you don’t see much today.
