So, 'Sanitation Day' is an interesting little gem from 2021. Two cops are knee-deep in a messy investigation at an apartment complex, and the atmosphere is thick with tension. The tenants are not exactly eager to cooperate, adding to this gritty, claustrophobic feel. The pacing is deliberate but effective, allowing the tension to simmer just right before boiling over. There's a dark humor lurking beneath the surface which adds a distinct flavor to the typical crime thriller setup. The practical effects used are surprisingly good, lending an authentic touch to some of the more intense moments. The performances are solid, especially the chemistry between the two leads. It’s not your run-of-the-mill cop drama, that's for sure.
