So, 'School Days' from '95. It’s got this lighthearted, yet somewhat edgy vibe that captures the trials of adolescence. Hui Chi-Ho, played by Jimmy Lin, is this rich kid struggling with the rough dynamics of high school. You’ve got Crow, the archetypal bully, who pushes Ho around, making things tense. Then there’s Eagle, portrayed by Takeshi Kaneshiro, swooping in to be the unexpected ally. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, but it adds to that chaotic school atmosphere. The humor is sprinkled in nicely amidst the drama, and you can’t help but chuckle at the absurd situations. The performances bring a certain charm, making it an interesting blend of comedy and coming-of-age themes, even if the direction isn’t the strongest point.
