Scorpion Thunderbolt is one of those curious entries in the Hong Kong horror/action scene. It’s a chaotic blend of a female journalist morphing into a snake demon and cutting through her surroundings with savage intent. The pacing is all over the place, but that adds to its wild charm. You get the vibe of a cut-and-paste job, as it’s stitched together from the earlier Taiwanese flick, Snake Woman, with some bizarre new scenes that don't quite mesh. The practical effects are a mixed bag, but there's something inherently captivating about them. The performances, while not Oscar-worthy, carry a certain raw energy that complements the film’s absurdity. It’s one of those flicks that you appreciate for its quirkiness and ambition over coherence.
A unique cut-and-paste style from Hong Kong.Interesting use of practical effects.Captures the absurdity of 80s horror/action.
