Sgt. Bilko is a curious blend of military comedy and character-driven hijinks. Steve Martin, with his usual wry charm, plays the con-man sergeant who runs a gambling ring and doesn't take much seriously, which is both hilarious and a bit disheartening when you think about the military backdrop. The pacing is light and breezy, which works for the goofy antics, but you might find yourself wishing for more depth. The supporting cast, including Dan Aykroyd and Phil Hartman, really elevates the film with their performances. The whole thing has this odd, almost nostalgic 90s vibe—nothing groundbreaking, but it captures a certain carefree spirit that's hard to pin down now. If you're into these offbeat comedies, it’s a decent little watch.
