Shellmont County Massacre is one of those films that really captures the creeping dread of a small town under siege. Gus Trapani does a solid job building tension, and you can almost feel the sheriff's mental unraveling as the body count rises. The pacing isn’t rushed, which gives time to immerse in the thick atmosphere—a sort of slow burn that you don’t see as much in modern horror. The practical effects are a nice nod to the genre's roots, plenty of grit without going overboard. Performances bring a rawness, especially from the sheriff, who feels genuinely tormented. It’s not just a slasher; it dives into the psychological toll of violence and loss, which makes it stick with you a bit longer than you'd expect.
