Shortcomings is a pretty interesting dive into the life of a Berkeley arthouse theater manager who's just been left behind while his girlfriend chases her dreams in New York. It's this mix of comedy and drama that really hits. The pacing feels deliberate, allowing you to soak in the awkward moments and the nuances of his bachelor life. Randall Park does a good job capturing that blend of humor and introspection without feeling forced. The performances are grounded, making the characters relatable, even if they’re a bit eccentric. And the cinematography, with its indie vibe, adds a nice layer to the whole experience. Definitely offers a unique lens on relationships and personal growth.
