Shrek Forever After feels like a different beast compared to its predecessors. I mean, Shrek is in a midlife crisis, which is kind of a bold move for an ogre. The animation still has that lush fairy tale look, but there’s a darker twist in the alternate universe where Rumpelstiltskin reigns. The pacing is interesting too; it swings between whimsical and heavy, reflecting Shrek's internal struggle. You see some great voice performances, especially from Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy, who manage to bring a lot of depth to their characters. The themes of regret and identity are woven in a way that's both humorous and poignant. It’s not just a sequel; it feels like a reflection on what it means to grow up, even for an ogre.
Released in 2010; last of the original Shrek series.Directed by Mike Mitchell; notable for its darker tone.Features 3D animation techniques, enhancing the visual depth.Includes memorable voice work from the original cast.
