So, 'Shroud' is quite an interesting piece from 2009 directed by David Jetre. It’s set in 1862 and follows this Dutch widow who makes the trek to the Old West, which is already a compelling setup. The atmosphere is thick with dread, and you can really feel the isolation of the town she arrives in. The practical effects used for some of the horror elements are definitely noteworthy—much better than a lot of the CGI stuff you see today. The performances are solid, particularly the lead, who really captures that sense of grief and determination. It's got some haunting themes about loss and the darkness that can lurk in a seemingly quiet place.
