Shut is an interesting dive into psychological horror. The atmosphere is thick with dread, and there’s a pervasive sense of isolation that really sticks with you. Jonas' visit to his father reveals layers of decay—mental and physical—that are unsettling. The pacing is deliberate, allowing unease to build slowly, which I think makes the final revelations hit harder. The practical effects are used sparingly but effectively, enhancing the film’s raw edge. Performances, particularly from the lead, ground the story amidst the escalating tension. It’s one of those films that lingers long after the credits roll, touching on themes of familial bonds and the fragility of the mind. Definitely worth a watch if you appreciate subtler horror with a focus on atmosphere.
