Sick Boy is an interesting watch, really. It carries a palpable sense of claustrophobia throughout, largely thanks to the confined setting. Skye McCole Bartusiak gives a decent performance as Lucy, and you can feel her mounting dread as she digs deeper into the boy's situation. Debbie Rochon, always a treat in horror, adds that touch of unease with her role as the mother. The pacing is slow but intentional, building tension gradually, and the practical effects, while limited, serve the unsettling atmosphere well. The film plays around with themes of isolation and secrecy, which definitely resonate in its execution. Not the most polished, but there's something raw and engaging about it.
Has a unique atmosphere.Solid performances from the leads.Interesting exploration of maternal themes.
