Sik Fan is a quiet animation that really gets into the heart of grief and the father-son dynamic. You have Ying, this grumpy old man who can't quite shake off the death of his wife, and then there's Lee, his son, with all this youthful energy and kindness. The contrast is palpable. The animation itself has a hand-drawn feel, which I find adds a certain warmth to their struggles. There’s a lot of emotion packed into its short runtime, almost like a poignant little poem. It explores themes of loss and connection, and how each character copes differently. You can sense the love and pain in every frame, making it feel like a deeply personal story rather than just another animated short.
