Siren (2019) is one of those films that really leans into the creepiness of isolation and the unsettling nature of authority. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and you can feel the dread building as the story unfolds. Two lovers are just trying to get home, right? But then you’ve got this sinister police officer who pulls them over, and everything spirals from there. The practical effects are decent, adding a raw edge to some of the more disturbing moments. The pacing has its lulls, but they serve to heighten the anxiety before the inevitable chaos ensues. Performances are solid, especially the officer—definitely leaves an impression. It's not your typical horror fare, and that’s what sets it apart, really.
