Skylark is one of those made-for-TV gems that captures the essence of family struggles during tough times. The drought adds a palpable tension, and you can feel the weight on Jacob and Sarah as they navigate their uncertain future. The performances feel genuine, particularly from the leads, who manage to embody that blend of hope and despair. Joseph Sargent does a nice job pacing the story, allowing moments of quiet reflection amidst the turmoil. The cinematography captures the stark beauty of the farm, which really enhances the atmosphere. It’s not flashy, but there’s something comforting in its simplicity and earnestness. Definitely a film that lingers in your mind long after it’s over.
