Sleep Tight, or Les Lionceaux as it's originally titled, is such an intriguing piece of cinema. Directed by Claire Doyon, it captures the raw essence of these two sisters living on a deserted island. The performances by Lisa Lacroix and Marie Felix are strikingly authentic – you really feel their isolation, their feral essence. The pacing is deliberately slow, almost meditative, letting the viewer absorb the atmosphere of both freedom and entrapment. Themes of survival and connection play out in this layered narrative. There's a certain grittiness in the practical effects, which adds to its realistic feel. It’s a film that lingers with you, perhaps not in the conventional way, but definitely in how it makes you reflect on relationships and solitude.
