So, 'Sniper' from 2020 really plays into that gritty action vibe, you know? It centers around Luo Xinglie, who’s sort of down on his luck after a botched rescue that went sideways. The pacing is pretty tight, with a good blend of action and the tension of conflict, but there’s a lot more about the personal stakes and the consequences of choices. The atmosphere feels heavy, almost oppressive at times, which really drives the themes of redemption and punishment. The practical effects in the combat scenes add a rawness that’s pretty engaging. The performances, while not groundbreaking, do convey this sense of urgency and desperation that keeps you invested. It’s not the typical war action flick, and that’s what I find interesting about it.
Focus on character development in action settings.Note the practical effects over CGI.Consider the film's exploration of consequences in warfare.
