Sockworld (2018) is this quirky little animation that dives into a realm you just don’t see often - the life of socks. The pacing is a bit whimsical, kind of like a dream. Wednesday, our sock protagonist, is charmingly frantic, and you really feel that urgency as he scours the tumble dryer, which serves as a portal. The animation style is simple yet effective, almost nostalgic. It captures a childlike wonder, but there's this underlying theme of love and loss that sneaks up on you. The colors pop, and the characters are expressive in a way that draws you in. It’s not often you find a film that mixes romance with laundry, but somehow, it works. Quite distinctive, really.
