So, Solaris (2007) is really intriguing. It's a remake of the classic Russian film, which already sets a unique tone. The atmosphere is heavy, almost suffocating at times, reflecting the emotional turmoil of the main character. You watch this guy grapple with his past, and then bam, his deceased ex appears, complete with that haunting cross-like scar on her wrist. The pacing is deliberate, which might not suit everyone, but I think it works to build the tension and introspection. The practical effects have this rawness that enhances the ghostly elements. It's a thoughtful exploration of grief and memory, and the performances pull you into this weird blend of drama and sci-fi. Definitely a distinct take on the source material.
