Solomon (2006) is this unsettling horror that unfolds in a cramped airport toilet, a pretty unique setting for a genre piece. The dialogue between the recreation counselor and prosecutor is tight and menacing—definitely adds to the creeping tension. Both characters are layered, carrying secrets that unravel in a way you might not see coming. The atmosphere is oppressive, almost claustrophobic, which works well with the slow pacing that ramps up to a disturbing climax. Practical effects are utilized here without overshadowing the narrative, and the performances have a rawness that nails the film’s dark themes of guilt and consequence. It’s not your typical horror fare, more like a psychological dive into two troubled souls meeting at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Interesting use of setting and dialogue.Focus on character-driven horror. Not overly reliant on jump scares.
