So, Soma (2025) is really something different in the horror landscape. The premise is super simple but effective—a guy goes for a walk to clear his mind and stumbles upon a dead body. The atmosphere is thick, almost suffocating at times, and the tension just builds slowly throughout. What I find intriguing are the practical effects; they use them sparingly, letting the unease linger longer. The pacing feels intentional; there’s a rhythmic drag that mirrors the protagonist’s mental state, which I think really deepens the overall experience. The performances have this rawness to them, especially from the lead, who feels both lost and completely present in this grim discovery. It’s a film that stays with you, even if you’re not sure why at first.
