So, 'Songbird' takes us inside the mind of Rose, who’s dealing with agoraphobia, which is kind of an interesting angle for a drama. The whole film has this intimate and claustrophobic vibe that really captures her internal struggle. When Lucy, her pet songbird, takes flight, it really pushes Rose to confront her fears, and that journey feels both personal and universal. The pacing kind of ebbs and flows, mirroring her emotional state, and the performances are quite raw. There’s a nice use of practical effects to create a sense of reality, which I appreciate. It's not flashy but does a solid job of exploring themes of confinement and liberation. Definitely feels like a character-driven piece rather than a plot-heavy one.
