Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) has a distinct blend of action, comedy, and that classic sense of adventure. Jeff Fowler returns to direct, and you can feel the continuity from the previous films, which is nice. The pacing is brisk, just like Sonic himself, but it allows for some quieter moments, especially between the trio of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails. Shadow as a villain brings a darker edge; his abilities are visually striking and add some real tension. The practical effects, particularly in the action sequences, give it a tangible feel that CGI-heavy films often miss. The voice performances are solid, bringing depth to the characters while maintaining that playful tone that's been a staple of the franchise.
