Sosuke Loses His Lover is an interesting piece, you know? Adapted from Kouhei Tsuka's play, it dives into the lives of a traveling acting troupe, capturing the nuances of their interactions and the ups and downs of their profession. The film feels both light-hearted and poignant, giving a glimpse into the world of theater with a blend of humor and melancholy. The pacing lingers just enough to let you digest the characters' quirks and their relationships, making it a bit different from your standard fare. The performances are quite engaging, pulling you into their little world. It's a less conventional viewing experience, but there's something really charming about its approach to storytelling.
This film is somewhat of a rarity in physical formats, with original VHS editions being especially hard to come by. It doesn't seem to have a wide reissue history, which contributes to its scarcity. Collectors have shown a growing interest in Koji Wakamatsu's works, especially those that are less mainstream, and this one certainly fits that bill. Finding a clean copy might take some patience, but it's definitely worth the hunt for anyone who appreciates unique adaptations and the theater scene.
