So, 'Spies Like Us' is one of those comedies that leans heavily on the absurdity of two clueless guys getting caught up in a global crisis. Landis directs this romp with a flair for slapstick and a satirical edge. Aykroyd and Chase bounce off each other pretty well, playing up their ineptitude as they stumble through espionage. The pacing is brisk, filled with goofy scenarios that don’t let up. Plus, there's some nice practical effects, especially in the training sequences which capture that 80s vibe. The film plays with Cold War anxieties but does it with a lighthearted touch, which might be its biggest charm. Overall, it's a quirky take on the spy genre that doesn't shy away from its silliness.
