Spirit on Wheels is one of those films that really captures a certain creeping dread. Da Hua's story is simple yet effective; he just wants to start fresh, but the second-hand cab turns into a nightmare. The pacing is interesting, it lingers just enough on the ghostly encounters to build tension but doesn’t overstay its welcome. The atmosphere feels thick, almost suffocating at times, which works well with the horror theme. The practical effects, while not always polished, offer a certain charm that adds to the eerie vibe. And while we don’t have much info on the director, the performances carry a weight that elevates the film. It’s not a typical horror flick, that’s for sure. Definitely has its quirks.
