Spirited Away is such a remarkable film. Hayao Miyazaki really captures that surreal, dreamlike quality that feels both fascinating and unsettling. The animation is lush, the character designs are detailed—like the soot sprites and the bathhouse spirits. The pacing has this lovely flow, with moments of quiet introspection mixed with frantic energy. It’s a coming-of-age story wrapped in a fantasy world that feels alive, almost like a character itself. And the themes of identity, environmentalism, and consumerism are woven in subtly, but they resonate deeply. The practical effects really stand out, especially in the way the spirits move and interact with Chihiro. There's just a unique atmosphere you don’t find often in animation. It’s one of those films you can revisit and discover something new each time.
