Splendor is a gem from '89 that really captures the essence of a fading era in cinema. The story revolves around Jordan, played by Mastroianni, who is struggling to keep this old theater afloat. The atmosphere is tinged with nostalgia and a bit of sadness, as you really feel the weight of the theater's decay. The pacing is a bit meandering at times, but that's part of its charm, I suppose. You've got Troisi as the quirky projectionist, adding a layer of whimsy to the narrative. The relationships between the characters—Jordan, Luigi, and Chantale—are really what stand out, dealing with themes of hope and despair in the face of inevitable change. It's not flashy, but there's something endearing about its earnestness.
