Star Trek: First Contact has that classic sci-fi blend of action and thoughtful themes. The atmosphere feels a bit darker than some of its predecessors, thanks to the looming threat of the Borg, which adds a nice layer of tension. The practical effects really stand out, especially the Borg design and the time travel aspects, which are executed with a sense of urgency. Jonathan Frakes does a solid job directing, and you can feel the camaraderie among the crew, especially between Picard and Data. It’s not just about the battles; there’s a real exploration of humanity’s future and what it means to be an individual amid a collective. You’ll appreciate the pacing as it balances character moments with thrilling sequences pretty well.
Theatrical release on November 22, 1996.Features a mix of practical effects and CGI.First film with the USS Enterprise E design.Nominated for Academy Award for Best Makeup.
