Starship Invasions delivers that campy, low-budget sci-fi charm that only the late 70s could muster. Directed by Ed Hunt, the film follows Captain Rameses and his misfit alien brigade as they attempt to colonize Earth, clashing with the League of Races, an alien patrol stationed in the Bermuda Triangle. The visuals are a patchwork of practical effects, often feeling more charming than polished. The pacing can be uneven, with some drawn-out sequences, but it adds to the quirky atmosphere. The performances are quite interesting; you can see the commitment to the material, even if it feels over-the-top at points. The film’s exploration of intergalactic diplomacy, of all things, feels ambitious, albeit rather absurd at times. Definitely a unique title for any sci-fi collection.
