Stay Alive is an interesting blend of horror and mystery, directed by William Brent Bell. The film's tone is dark, dripping with that early 2000s vibe that makes you feel a bit nostalgic for the era. The pacing has its ups and downs, but it builds a couple of decent scare moments as the friends get deeper into the game. The premise of a video game linked to a historical figure like the Blood Countess adds a unique twist, and you can sense the practical effects trying to create a gritty, visceral atmosphere. Performances are okay; they deliver just enough to keep the story moving, but nothing groundbreaking. It's certainly a film that stands out in its own right in the realm of video game adaptations, even if it doesn't always hit the mark.
