Stay-at-Home Dads is one of those films that hovers in that delightful gray area of comedy and drama. You’ve got Ned, a vending machine mechanic who’s sort of down on his luck, and Julian, a guy with a past as a male stripper; their meeting on a park bench feels almost like fate. The way they observe their kids is intriguing, to say the least. The humor is offbeat, interlacing with genuine moments of reflection on fatherhood and societal roles. The pacing is relaxed, allowing for those awkward yet honest exchanges to breathe. Performances are earnest, making the quirks of each character feel relatable, even if the story strays into odd territory. It’s definitely not your cookie-cutter family flick.
