Stranger in Our House, or as it's also known, Summer of Fear, offers that classic Wes Craven vibe—creepy and claustrophobic. You get this sense of dread creeping in as Rachel, the teenage daughter, starts to realize that her charming cousin Julie might not be who she says she is. The pacing is a slow burn, which might not be for everyone, but it really builds tension nicely. The performances, especially from the leads, carry a lot of weight; you can feel the tension in their interactions. And then there's the theme of family betrayal wrapped up in some witchcraft elements—it’s a fascinating mix. The practical effects are modest but effective, leaving a lingering sense of unease. Definitely a unique piece in Craven's filmography.
