Street Fighter is a curious mix of action, comedy, and that early 90s vibe. Steven E. de Souza’s take on the notable video game feels like a chaotic mash-up of larger-than-life characters and campy one-liners. Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile is, well, Van Damme. His charisma kinda carries the film even when the pacing stumbles. The practical effects and set designs are amusingly dated but have a certain charm that’s lost in today’s CGI-heavy productions. It’s a film that embraces its absurdity. The martial arts choreography is decent, but the over-the-top performances, especially from Raul Julia as M. Bison, really steal the show. Not for everyone, but definitely a unique watch for collectors who enjoy the era’s quirks.
