Struck by Lightning is one of those quirky little gems from the early '90s. Directed by Jerzy Domaradzki, it has this unique blend of comedy and heartfelt moments, set in a factory that’s more like a halfway house for people with disabilities. You really get a sense of camaraderie among the workers, and Ollie Rennie, played by the lead, manages to balance being a boss and a friend. Pat Cannizzaro's character, a soccer coach, brings this unexpected layer of sport into their lives, which leads to some pretty funny and touching scenes. The pacing is relaxed but engaging, letting the characters shine. It’s a distinctive take on community and resilience, with some practical effects that add to its charm rather than distract.
