Sunlight Jr. presents a raw, gritty look at love amidst hardship. You’ve got Melissa, a quickie-mart worker, and Richie, who’s paraplegic, navigating their way through life with a real sense of affection for each other. It’s not just their financial struggles that create tension, but also the looming responsibility of a child on the way. The film really captures that blend of hope and desperation. The pacing leans towards the slower side, which I think serves the tone well, allowing you to really sit with the characters. The performances, especially from Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon, are pretty striking in their authenticity. There's something distinct about how it portrays the fragility of happiness in tough times.
