Surge is one of those oddities that really draws you in. It plays with the concept of mass and gravity in such a visual way. The use of partially lit paper relief is striking, giving it this almost tactile feel. You can sense the experimental nature in every frame, like it’s pushing boundaries of traditional animation. The pacing is deliberately slow, almost meditative, which might not be for everyone, but it invites you to really look closely. It captures a certain atmosphere of abstraction that’s hard to describe. There's no dialogue or conventional narrative, just a feast for the eyes that compels you to interpret your own meaning. It’s certainly distinctive in its approach, and definitely not something you see every day.
