'Suzanne' is one of those films that sneaks up on you with its gentle, almost whimsical exploration of loss and rediscovery. Franck, our protagonist, is this somewhat grumpy septuagenarian who feels completely adrift after his wife's passing. The pacing is contemplative, allowing us to really sit with his grief. Enter Suzanne—a vibrant breath of fresh air, completely outside of Franck's usual realm. The chemistry between them feels organic, and the performances are charming in a way that doesn’t overplay the emotions. It’s this odd friendship that’s really at the heart of the film, pulling Franck back to life in a very unconventional way. It’s quiet, it’s real, and has a subtle humor that feels authentic. A nice, understated piece of cinema.
