Table Top Ranch is a fascinating little piece from 1922 that really captures that classic Western feel. Directed by Paul Hurst, it sets up a gripping range war between cattlemen and sheep-men, which was such a hot topic back then. The relationship between John Marvin and Kate Bowers is interesting; she’s this defenseless sheepherder that he feels compelled to protect, and you can really feel the tension with the other cattlemen, especially Palque Powell, who's a real piece of work. The pacing has that old-timey rhythm, and there’s a rawness to the performances that draws you in. The practical effects, though not grand, lend an authenticity that’s sometimes missing in modern films. Definitely a reflective watch.
